CATHERINE WHEEL

These guys are amazing. I don't know of another band that combines power and beauty half as well as these four do.Their music has the sheer power of Nirvana and the lyrical subtlety of The Cure. Originally classified in the "shoegazer" genre, Catherine Wheel is one of those rare bands that transcend popular music. Their music will continue to evolve independent (and way ahead) of less talented bands that for some reason sell more records.

Catherine Wheel has just released their fifth album, "Adam and Eve". Honestly, I think it's a masterpiece. They're taking the new album on the road right now, so you should make every effort to see these guys. The first show of the tour was right here in the Bay Area at the Great American Music Hall, and the band delighted the audience with the longest show they had ever played, performing every song on the new album and a smattering of old favorites (Texture, I Want To Touch You, Black Metallic, Crank, Heal, Waydown). Go and see them NOW!

If you're into trading tapes, take a look at my list of live Catherine Wheel tapes. I also have a decent collection of their B sides and rare tracks.

There's a shark shaped fin in the water of my dreams

An alligator screams from the depths there

I'd swim with you there
