Rev. 3:20 "Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me."

So what does that really mean ? At first it sounds like a nice dinner meeting with an acquaintance. Just small talk, "how are you, how are the kids, how is work going ?" But this meeting is more than a luncheon with a friend.

What if the meeting were more on the lines of your being in jail, or prison and someone came to visit you ? "I'm trying to get you out, I'll do my best". I think the meeting would take on a little more importance.

But when Jesus is saying if you hear my voice and open the door He is looking far deeper into our being than just a sit down dinner. Let us say you are really in bondage, chained by the world you live in, which by the way is self destructing right before you very eyes. Not only that you are chained to your previous actions of bad behavior in your life, unable to break away. You know that you're doing these things in a wrong matter, but can't stop yourself. Now Jesus says "I will free you from these bondages, and not only the world, but death." How would you like to be freed from death ? Who has the power to do that ? No one ! ( Except Jesus ) Our doctors are trying frantically to extend our lives as long as possible, but to be freed from death. Live forever, that would be a dinner I wouldn't want to miss.

Now here is someone who not only can do that, but knows you inside and out, He has followed you from the time when you were conceived, He knows all your faults, hidden secrets, the things no one else knows and He is willing to free you from all of it. He is willing to free you and help you through-out all the changes that you will experience. And He will not hold anything against you, He has the power to free you from physical death which awaits us all. Of course their is a price for this freedom, a great price which He Himself bore for you personally. A great payment that no one else was willing to pay. Would you want to talk with the person who would be willing to take you at your worse, and tell you how much He has always loved you, and has been waiting for YOU to ask Him in to dine with you. Today is the day, now it's up to YOU. If it's in your heart to do so.
