Calvin runs a nice, friendly shop, the largest in Singapore. Stocks Mountainsmith rucksacks, Arcteryx, MSR stoves, 5.10 shoes,Walrus tents, Korean and US outerwear, a host of other brands. Will do bar-tacking of gear and repairs at a reasonable cost. Probably the most complete outdoor shop. Also has a library of videos and climbing/travel guides for loan. Nearest MRT (underground rail station )is Dhoby Ghaut
Please note that the Campers' website is still under construction!
One of two shops in Peninsula Plaza, it stocks Petzl gear, lots of climbing hardwear, ropes, harnesses, holds for climbing walls, Quest rucksacks and is heavily into designing and building climbing walls. Ask for Desmond, Anthony, Steven or Joey. Nearest underground train station is City Hall MRT.
Just in are the C-sized battery powered Petzl head-lamps - excellent for arctic or similar conditions
and with double the battery life compared to the standard AA-sized battery packs.
The newest of these three shops. It is the main dealer for Black Diamond and stocks other climbing gear like nuts, krabs, Camalots and most common hardware. Also has a good range of La Sportiva hiking boots and climbing slippers.
New in are the Salomon leather trekking and leather-composite mountaineering boots. Salomon have a world-class
reputation and these boots deserve a look.
The Everest team tested the Salomon Authentic 8 Gore-tex boots ( 900gms each ) on Kinabalu ( May 21-25 )
and found them to be exceptionally breathable, leaving one's socks dryish -as well as repelling the notorious
wet and cold conditions on Kinabalu. High leather cuff needed some breaking in but then proved to be very
supportive and excellent for moraine of heavy duty trekking.
They have their BIG launch on June 14th!
