The Rio Grande Valley is in the southern most tip of Texas. It is located on the 26th degree latitude and considered to be in the sub-tropics. Very few of the trees are deciduous so it stays green all year long! Actually, the "winter" only lasts a few weeks down there, if that!
Wanna know what it's like right now?
I was amazed by the different kinds of plant and animal life there. This cactus is just a small sample of the beauty of the RGV. Here's another one.
This is one of the native trees of the RGV, a huisache. That's pronounced "wee-sach".
Never had I seen a palm tree actually bloom, let alone produce fruit !!
