My Adonis by Renee Levinson
Lust,
Hotter than fire,
Brighter than any newly born star,
Burns within me.
Like a moth to a flame,
It beckons,
And I willingly seek.
Adonis,
His beauty, mystery, flagrant taunts,
Scorched my soul,
Left me helpless, as a babe.
A night of passion,
Never meant to be,
A broken heart,
Left behind for eternity.
The chance not taken,
Like an anchor,
Weighs upon my heart,
Leaving me submerged beneath the tide.
Memories of my Adonis,
Thaw my cold heart,
Leaving hope,
For future loves.
