Skills and Merit Badge Schedule
(Suggested only, may change according to weekly demand)

Note: It is the advancement philosophy of Camp Castle Rock that we teach lifetime skills, not badges. Further, an emphasis is placed on a Scout's ability to perform the skill or otherwise demonstrate understanding of the skill. By participating in each skill session for a badge, a Scout will earn the badge and have fun. But some Scouts and leaders are curious and want to learn only a particular skill. Classes are open to all Scouts and leaders who might like to learn something about that particular subject, and are limited only by group size and certain health and safety requirements (e.g. aquatics policies). This philosophy will help Scouts to learn as they become interested, and not to be locked into a "class." However, a Scout should be warned that participating in one session, or joining in mid-week, does not mean he will earn the badge, or be able to start the badge. Some Scouts come prepared and may "challenge" the session, demonstrating learned skills and thereby completing the badge in a few sessions, generally, "walk-ins" are welcome!

Note: Troops will be required to provide leadership for open swimming and open boating periods, implementing the "Safe Swim Defense" and "Safety Afloat" plans. This will allow aquatics staff to work with your Scouts on needed skills development, and also prepare your Scouts practice for troop outings.
