MARCH CHAPTER MEETING

Tuesday, March 4th at the Cornelia Public Library at 7:00 pm. Don't miss it!!

The 1997 Hoot on the Hooch is Here!

March 15 is the big day. Once again, the Unicoi Trout Fishing Day put together by our own Bob Slack will be a prelude to the annual Hoot on the Hooch.

Bob has an entire day of trout fishing activities lined up including basic trout fishing, fly tying, rod building, and a casting clinic. There will be vendors displaying their wares along with booths sponsored by the USFS and the State DNR....not to mention a Georgia Foothills TU booth!

After a day full of valuable trout fishing information, the festivities are capped off by the annual Hoot on the Hooch banquet sponsored by the Georgia Foothills chapter. The proceeds from the banquet go to finance the chapter's projects, such as the Soque River Outdoor classroom.

So, mark your calendar and be sure to attend...and look elsewhere in this special Hoot edition of FOOTNOTES for more details, and information on how you can help out. Also, don't miss the special dues offer for both new memberships and renewals!

PRIZES, PRIZES, PRIZES!

How would you like a guided fishing trip for two on the normally closed section of Dukes Creek? What about a new fly-fishing or fly-tying outfit? Interested in a guided trip on the Jacks River?

There will be a whole boat-load of prizes, and you've got plenty of chances to win...in addition to the usual fine assortment at the Hoot on the Hooch, we'll be having a drawing at each of the seminars Bob has arranged.

We've already had a number of prizes donated, and the banquet committee is in the process of securing even more, which is one area where you can help. In addition to attending the banquet, we'd like to see each member of the chapter donate a prize for one of the raffles, door prizes, or auctions.

Remember, these prizes don't even have to be fishing-related...in fact, we need some prizes to offer the non-fishing spouses!

So, to help out, please contact Dale, Jimmy Harris (706-778-5377), or Dave Burton (706-778-2731).

AN OFFER YOU CAN'T REFUSE

This is the best deal around...we all need to renew our memberships at some point, and we've got the incentive to go ahead and do it now with the Hoot on the Hooch Dues Special.

Here's the deal: Just pay your dues at the banquet (or before if you won't be able to attend) and get a discounted rate of $25 rather than the normal $30 rate.

And as if that's not enough, if we get 50 new members/renewals during this offer, the chapter receives a special bonus gift from TU national. We've decided that the best use of this item is to give it back to the members that earn it. So we'll have a special drawing at a future meeting open only to members who take advantage of this Hoot on the Hooch Dues Special. We're not saying what this mystery prize is just yet...suffice it to say it beats the socks off anything you can get by donating to PBS!

Don't let your fellow members down...be sure and renew - whether your membership is up for renewal or not! It's also a great time to encourage non-members to join! Make your check payable to the Georgia Foothills Chapter, indicating your member number if you know it, and mail to Jimmy Harris at P.O. Box 8; Cornelia GA 30531 - or better yet, just renew at the Hoot!

Remember, both new members and renewals are eligible and you can take advantage of this deal even if you can't make the Hoot!
