ALMOST ANY DAY

Wind Walker

Well I ran down the street
A-chasin' my head.
Thinkin' all the while
Better catch it or your dead.
Well it went around a corner
Screamin' as it fled.
And I was gettin' tired
My feet they felt like lead.

Well life in the city
It's not too good.
There ain't too much pretty
Even though you know there should -
Be flowers and fountains
And tall buildings
That look like mountains.
And me sitting there
In the middle of the street.
I'm lookin' at my head
We're both tired - dead beat.

So I looked at the sky
And I asked "WHY
Is it that I
Can't die? "
And the man upstairs answers
It's because you're too damned high!
So I'll stay this way
I ain't gonna stop.
Maybe if I'm lucky
I might blow my top.

Knowin' I've gone through bad times
But I've also seen some good.
I ain't lived my life right
But I lived it the way I could.
And now I'm almost done
I'm at the edge of the wood.
And someone's gonna chop me down
And I'm sure that they could.

So, good-bye blue world
It's been nice knowin' you.
I've had some good times
a-runnin' around you too.
But if anyone asks why
Did he live life this way ?
Tell them not to cry -
'Cause I was happier than them Almost Any Day
