LONELY NIGHT THOUGHT NO. 2

You say that I don't know what I should be
You also say someday I'll see
What this world is supposed to be
But I don't give a damn, can't you see !

Everyone says what's wrong and right
But no one see what is in sight
And no cares if it's day or night
And no one hears the men in flight
And no one feels the poor man's fright
And no one cares about this blight.

Ask me, I'll tell you, ask me I say
Everything that's been on my mind for many a day
I'll tell you about the suffering that I've never had
I'll show you the sorrows that make men feel so bad
And let you hear the screams, that makes wars so bad.

Oh please people, don't turn your head
And don't shut your eyes on the ones that are dead
And don't shut your ears to the cries of unfed
And don't shut your minds to the days ahead.

The world today is a beautiful place
If you don't look into a sadden face
If you don't think of war of race against race
If killing and stealing were not commonplace
If hunger and greed were not the case.

Now tell me kind sir, what should I be ?
Maybe a hero in the infantry
Where I could kill ten times three
Or maybe a hero in artillary
Where I could kill a hundred times three
Or maybe a hero in missles you see
Where I could kill a million times three
Or maybe a dove
With no killing to be.

Bob Dylan once said and he's no bore
That if God's on our side he'll stop the next war
But I say if people would just learn the score
They would look around and abolish war.

But hoping won't help, though I wish that it could
'Cause then I'd hope for a world that would
Be loving and gentle with much brotherhood
Instead of being covered with people like wood.

And mankind will learn - I hope someday.
