Wind Walker

As I was stumbling through the forest so deep
Like a child in a heavy sleep
My eyes beheld a most beautiful sight
Blue-black darkness of the forest had turned to light.
And ahead green trees bowed showing me the way
But an urgent voice from behind uttered these small words
Don't go - - Please stay.

Looking back, I turned and ran the other way
Because I knew that voice and what it would say
Love comes easy and love comes fast
But for us it's now all in the past.
Then love comes hard and love comes slow
Again those hastening words
Don't go.

With still and quiet thoughts to percieve
Running or walking, I could not leave.
"Take a chance" that's what she had told
"For you shall reap memories of gold"

Caring, needing, and loving her more each day
Like a fool I ran blindly into the forest -
Where I now must stay.
