The LCO Outdoor Club met on January 29, 1999. The subject of
the meeting was "Cold Weather Survival." The members received a
demonstration on how to survive if stranded in very cold weather.

The presentation begins

Club Members watch intently as Mr.Serigny
starts a fire with steel wool and a 9-v battery!

Starting the fire!

The Film comes next!

The members attention is riveted on the film.

We have a volunteer for the demonstration.
The brave volunteer is Douglas Duet.

Wool underwear works best!

A sweater provides the best insulating properties.

A jacket of closed cell foam provides warmth and floatation.

Insulated-foot boots provide best foot warmth.

The ears and head are protected using a wool cap.

Can any of you guess what this is?

Right! Waterproof pants!!

The presentation ends and all the outdoor club members
can now survive a hunting trip in southern Louisiana.
