Gait is everything
Even if the standart don't have any section on gait, all the characteristics of feet, back, topline, loin, forelegs and hindlegs bring us to the essential in a sled dog: to allow him the best movement.
The Malamute trend to move in a straight line, with a tendency to move the feet under the centerline of the body. That's called the single-track. The head will follow the topline, a little low, to allow the best transfer of strenght from the rear legs to the shoulders. This permits the Malamute to have a very long stride, not as fast perhaps as some other northern bred, but very effective. It's a joy to see a so compact and massive dog with a so rithmical, sound and beautiful movement.
