Trout Fishing!!!!
Hi, again. It's been a long time huh. Well I've been extremely
busy and I think it has rained for the last month non stop here in good ole GA. Hey,
it didn't rain this weekend (at least not for a few hours) so as I promised, I headed
up to the mountains for some fly fishing. My favorite pass time in the whole world.
There is nothing like being all alone, twenty miles from the nearest phone, and catching
wild brown trout on a fly you just tied yourself. It is as close to heaven as I know
how to get. And although the trout are small they are scrappy. The stream I fished
this weekend is an artificial only stream. It is a small stream in itself but it has
yielded a couple of browns to my Royal Wulff that measured above 14 inches. I have never
caught a rainbow in this stream but who cares. The browns are GREAT!!!!
This is about the average size for this stream.. Just look at those colors..
Here's a closer look at the steam. Can you see the improvements that
Trout Unlimited has made? They have
done a wonderful job on this stream. Many thanks for all the hard work...
The improvements help to keep the trout healthy and beautiful...like this one..
Have you ever tried flyfishing?? Most people think that it is too expensive. Well,
I don't think that you have to spend a lot of money on a fly rod and real. I use a
six foot Cortland Rod (which is perfect for these small streams) that only cost around
$70. Thats a good price considering that an Orvis rod will start at around $200.
I hope you enjoyed this weeks adventure. If you are interested in fishing some of the
creeks in Ga., go to my links page. Follow the link to NGTO. It is a great starting
place with a lot of stream reviews.. Until next week, go outside.. It's a great place
to be......:)
