Community Service

One of Troop 349's community service projects is participation in the Community Share Program, which is sponsored by the St. Vincent de Paul Society in the upper parking lot at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, El Cajon, CA.

One Saturday per month, boys from the troop help distribute food to community food participants. People from the immediate community are eligible to purchase food at a very modest price of $14. The food is pre-selected and consists of balanced meals for the family. The food distribution starts at about 8 am on selected Saturdays; however, the older and stronger boys get an early start by arriving about 6 am to help load groceries from the warehouse in downtown San Diego. The younger boys start bagging the groceries at about 7 am.

The Share Program distribution is on the following Saturday's: April 26^th, May 31^st, June 28^th, July 26^th, August 23^rd, September 27^th, October 25^th, November 22^nd, and December 30^th.
