Youth Protection Guidelines are a set of guidelines set up by BSA for the protection of our youth. These classes will cover the issues of physical and psychological abuse. Not only will they help us as adult leaders and parents to recognize abuse, they will also teach us how to NOT put ourselves into a position to be accused of such a action.
The BSA requires the Troop to meet certain requirements and procedures in order to go on an outing. We have to have at least one YPG trained adult and a minimum of two adults on hand with our boy's at all times. In the case of an emergency this could require us to cancel an outing if we have only one YPG trained adult on an outing.
I feel as a parent and a scouter that it is our responsibility to receive this training in order to help the Troop whenever we are at an outing or other Troop activity. PLEASE Try to take one of the upcoming 90 minute classes that are located all over the county. For a time and location that will fit into your schedule and for additional information go to Council's YPG Training Page.
