If the buck:doe ratio on your hunting area is higher than 1:3 (and I’ll bet it is), you better start doing some management.
Above, Ed Troup and Will Tobey look over three mature does taken on their Hughes County lease on the last day of rifle season. Ed and Will have a current ratio of around 1:10 but are working through harvest techniques to improve this.
Remember, find out what you have in August and harvest it properly in October and November. If you are still killing more bucks than does on your hunting area, you need to take a math class.
