As time goes by, I hope to venture out of my local area more often to see some new and wonderful places. As a kid I saw most of the natural wonders of the western US, but haven't had the opportunity to journey very far as an adult. In December, 1996, I made a trip to Arizona.  The main noteworthy natural places we saw there were Saguaro National Park and Sedona in Arizona, and Death Valley National Park on the way back through California.  I have developed the film but still need to scan some pictures and will put up some information when I get the pictures up. For now, all I have is this cactus from Saguaro National Park.
Saguaro National Park is actually in two different locations. One is on the east edge of Tucson and the other is on the west edge. We only drove through the eastern portion, due to time constraints. It mainly consists of a loop road through a forest of Saquaro cactus, along with many other kinds of cactus. There are also many trails into the backcountry, but I don't know if I could ever convince myself to go backpacking anywhere that scorpions are common. Not to mention all the other lovely desert creatures. The desert is a beautiful place, but I don't think I could ever truly feel at home there as I do in the forests and mountains.
