The Sierra Club
Not much needs to be said...it's the Sierra Club. Basically the biggest pro-environment organization out there.
GORP
If you're hungry for some GORP, this site is full of information. This GORP is the Great Outdoor Recreation Page. One of the largest outdoor recreation sites I've seen.
The Tahoe Rim Trail
The Tahoe Rim Trail is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization dedicated to the planning, construction and maintenance of a 150-mile hiking and equestrian trail which follows the ridge tops of the Lake Tahoe Basin.
Pacific Crest Trail Association
The mission of the Association is to promote and protect the Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail so as to reflect its world-class significance for the enjoyment, education and adventure of hikers and equestrians.
The League to Save Lake Tahoe
Keep Tahoe Blue. Lake Tahoe's clarity is steadily decreasing and these guys are dedicated to preserving the environmental balance, scenic beauty, and recreational opportunities of the Lake Tahoe Basin.
Halfdome.com
If you're a Yosemite junkie like I am, stop by Halfdome.com. Lots of good pics and news on the floods and rock slides and such, plus semi-daily shots of the valley. Not the same as being there, but at least there's no crowds.
U.S.
Show Caves Directory
This is a complete guide to caves that are open to the public. Not as fun as the ones that are out in the middle of nowhere, but they should be kept secret. Public caves can still be a lot of fun if you can afford them. Or you can go to Lava Beds.
The Lava Beds Home Page
This is one of my favorite places. Lots of caves with no guides (unless you want to go with one), all for one low entrance fee ($5 last time I was there). This page is the best I've seen on Lava Beds, put together by some guy from Chico named Beej.
Lake Tahoe Community College
This is my old college. It's a nice small campus in the woods of South Lake Tahoe. Lots of good wilderness PE classes and a wonderfull small campus atmosphere.
CraKel Publications Home Page
This is a very inspirational page with some good organ transplant information. The part that got me there was the stories about Kelly, a heart transplant patient who has hiked to the top of Half Dome and Mt. Whitney within a couple years after receiving her transplant. Very inspirational and some nice pics, too!
Some favorite Geocities pages
