"The Scout Law"
I don't remember where I found this, but I really like it. I hope
you find it to be something meaningful that you can use with your
Scouts (even though it is not the current Scouts Canada Scout
Law).
A Scout is Trustworthy
Trust in the Lord with all your heart. Never rely on what you
think you know.
A Scout is Loyal
Love the Lord, all His faithful people. The Lord protects the
faithful, but punishes the proud as they deserve.
A Scout is Helpful
When did we ever see you a stranger, and welcome you in our homes,
or naked and clothe you? When did we ever see you sick or in prison,
and visit you? The King will reply, "whenever you did this for one of
the least important of these brothers of mine, you did it for
me!"
A Scout is Friendly
Friends always show their love. What are brothers for if not to
share trouble?
A Scout is Courteous
Your speech should always be pleasant and interesting, and you
should know how to give the right answer to everyone.
A Scout is Kind
Be kind and tenderhearted to one another, and forgive one another,
as God has forgiven you through Christ.
A Scout is Obedient
Anyone who hears these words of mine (Jesus said) and obeys them
is like a wise man who built his house on a rock (a firm
foundation).
A Scout is Cheerful
You will show me the path that leads to life; your presence fills
me with joy and brings me pleasure forever.
A Scout is Thrifty
Bring the full amount of your tithes to the temple, so that there
will be plenty of food there. Put me to the test and you will see
that I will open the windows of Heaven and pour out on you in
abundance all kinds of good things!
A Scout is Brave
I have told you this so that you will have peace by being united
with me. The world will make you suffer. But be brave! I have
defeated the world.
A Scout is Clean
How can a young man keep his life pure? By obeying Your
commands!
A Scout is Reverent
Have reverence for the Lord, all the earth! Honour him, all
peoples of the world!
