Authentic reproduction of plains indian clothing. For display or for wear. Buckskin, fox face, antler buttons, feathers, markings are all natural. Shirt and pants made as the indians would have made, using their natural resources. Shirt & Pants: Grey cow splits with suede side out, extremely soft and lightweight. All markings are done with natural dyes. All sewn by hand with a doulbe thredded spiral (whip) stitch with waxed artificial sinew. Approximately 8" fringe under sleeves and about 4" on sides. Pants have about 4" to 6" fringe. Shirt front: Commercially tanned real grey fox face for bib and black trade cloth collar both spiral stiched to shirt. Real deer antler buttons with 12 tin cone scalplocks attached with sinew.Matching lacing with pony beads and 1 imitation eagler feather. Also dyed coup marks on sleeves and sides. Shirt made from on piece of hide, no upper arm seam or shoulder seams. I folded hide in half and then cut it. Shirt back: Real turkey wing feathers with black trade cloth wrap attached by lacing through the deer antler buttons and also a dyed "hand" symbol representing an enemy had been killed in battle. It has dyed coup marks on the sleeves and back as well. (There was a hole about 2" in the back of the right sleeve, at the first coup mark, that I patched.). Shirt will fit up to around a size 52. It has 24" sleeves, measured from the shoulder. A larger size shirt. Pants: cow split Hide double spiral stitched by hand with artificial waxed sinew. The top back of pants wraps around to make the belt. Fastens with 2 deer antler tip buttons drilled and attached with elk hide ties. Dyed coup markings with around 4"-6" fringe. They should fit from a size 32 to 40 waist with a 32 to 34 inseam. also included : Breechcloth, no retreat sash, breastplate, parfleche, possibles bag, arrow quiver, beaded belt, beaded choker, coonskin hat. *see photos of all items* I'm 6' tall around 225 lbs. 46" chest, 24" sleeve from the shoulder (XXL) and a 38" waist with a 32" inseam. The shirt and pants were made to fit my dimensions. This outfit was made solid. It can be displayed in a musuem, trading post, on you wall at home or where ever you choose. It can also be worn to any re-enactment you may attend. Add some moccasins and a coyote hat, throw your smokepole over your shoulder and be the envy at your next rondevous. A warriors power was known through his dress so other warriors and tribes would know his strength. The warrior that would have worn this clothing would of had great power and would have been feared by those who tried to count coup on him. Every stitch has a story, every mark has a meaning. Many hours of research and hands on work dedicated to authenticity. Thanks for looking, Tim "deergrunt" Willyard |
