Singapore Botanic Gardens

Well, when was the last time you've been to the Singapore Botanic Gardens?  We were pleasantly surprised to find such a wonderful and safe place to have a great time!   The Officers all agree that SBG is wonderful because...

1. They have great new amenities at the new Visitor's Entrance (via NIE) which includes restrooms, a cafe (which is rather expensive), shelter and a souvenior shop.

2. The admission is FREE!  So we just need to buget for transport, food and drinks.

3. It's not very crowded (unlike the Zoo or Birdpark with their many visitors and animals), so having noisy games are still alright.

If you can't see any P5 or P6 Boys in the photos, that's because during this event in Camp, they were having a hike in Sembawang with Mr Noel Tan and his instructors.  The other Officers brought the P3 and P4 Boys to the Gardens.

After getting to the Gardens, we took a walk along the nature trails.  These trails are not as tough as those on Bukit Timah, so the younger ones found no problem in tagging along.  Also, there were paved paths which led to interesting sculptures and open fields.

That's not all, the Boys finally got to do something that most of them have only *read* about - CLIMBING TREES!

We're hoping to go to the Botanic Gardens again in the near future for a picnic.   If you are going too, remember to get the Boys to bring their ponchos because the Visitor's Entrance is a good 15 minutes walk.  Also, bring your own food and drinks because they are quite expensive - Cafe Le Amies is a French cafe, after all.   There's a water cooler at the Visitor's Entrance where the Boys can fill their water-bottles up.
