North Head - The Fear

The Fear
The Fear heads up this side of the arete, to the belay ledge right out on it. Then straight up those overhanging jugs (exposure!!), the famous and awesome traverse around under the top roof to the far side, then up a short headwall to confront the amazed tourists.

Probably the greatest position in Sydney climbing - having just finished a squatting traverse, your head squashed into the roof, your feet teetering on the lip of the overhang, with 60m of air below!! This shot is taken from the belay ledge, looking up at the final roof. A wide angle lens would show the harbour and the city way down below.
