Why do I call it the Mouse House, you ask? <chuckles> That's easy.... 'cause that is what I call my wife <grin>, and it's her house! Ya see, in the mornin when she wakes up, she makes lil squeeky noises... something akin to English, but not quite. Takes the lil Lady about 30 minutes and a few cups of Ronnyvous coffee to wake up. What's scary is that I understand her squeeks... One morning I said, "Vicki, you sound like a little Mouse"... stuck ever since.
This sign caused many husbands at the '97 Alifia Rendezvous a bit of trouble. At least 3-4 times a day, some wife would drag their husband by our camp and say.... "Look what he did for his wife. Why didn't you do that for me?" Needless to say, I got a few unkind looks from husbands for a few days. I do think the sign painters business increased, though...
So, with that, welcome to our camp... Pull up a log or a chair, have a cup of my good(?) Ronnyvous coffee, and enjoy our hospitality... <smile> Oh, and if ya ever do see the Mouse House at a Ronnyvous or Reenactment, please, come in and jaw with us a bit.... You are always welcome... There's always something in the pot (not always sure what tha meat is), and the coffee is hot...
Addison and Victoria Miller (SeanBear and Lil Mouse)
This
was a VERY cold morning.... You'd think that in Central Florida in
January it would be warm, right? NOT!!!
This particular morning it was 17 Degrees!!!... and the wash basin had
2 inches of ice in it. Vicki was huddled by the fire in her long
handles and cape to keep warm. I was the dumb one in the cold taking
the picture. You can always count on a few cold days at the Alafia,
and in January, it is beautiful down here. Highs were normally in
the 60s, with lows in the low 40s, clear and sunny...
This
is one of the SeanBear. Someday, if you are ever sitting by the fire, I'll
tell you how I got that nickname... Its too long a story to go into here.
Mouse calls me that all the time... If I get called by my Christian
name, Addison, I know I'm in trouble. Not that I ever really get
in trouble, mind you... it's just that since Adam and Eve, man has always
had a propensity to get in trouble with a woman... But, then making up
is always fun... <smile>
This
is my 'pard, Chuck Coomer, building up the fire on that COLD morning.
Vicki said.... "Chuckie, make it be more fire....", and naturally, Chuck
made it be more fire... I think we used that whole pile of wood that
day... It didn't get much warmer as the day progressed. Mouse has
a way with words. She simply says... "....make it be...", and we
make it be whatever she wanted in the first place. Beats hell outta
arguin!! Not that she is spoiled or anything by us.... :)
