Gallery 1999

  1. Winter Night Scene… This is a shot of a busy intersection in Kalamazoo (Howard Street and Stadium Drive) I don't have the data on this shot.

  2. Motion shot of an Amtrack Engine/Train… A shot of an Amtrack engine/train. This pic is supposed to show motion and I think it does it pretty well. Olympus OM F with T-Max 100.

  3. Wine Casks… A shot of some wine casks that were just sitting by the side of the road up on the pennisula north of Traverse City. There is a winery up there. This is one of those out the car window shots where I got out of the car, briefly, took a shot and then got back in. Olympus OM 2s with Gold Max film.

  4. Shot of Concession Stand at a County Fair… A shot taken at a County Fair with my old Nikkormat FTn w/ 50 mm lens on T-Max 400.

  5. Hollyhocks… A picture of a bunch of Hollyhocks. My wife, Jan, and I were driving around South Haven, MI and Jan insisted that I stop and take a shot. I think it has some pretty nice colors. Actually it is one of my "Out the Car Window" shots. Olympus XA-2 with Gold Max film.

  6. Concession Stand in color… A colored shot of the concession stand in b&W that was the pic of the week two weeks ago. Taken with my OM F with Gold 400 on a tripod.

  7. Polaroid Transfer… A Polaroid Transfer of a sunset. Nothing special but it does illustrate the result of the process. I took a Poloroid shot of an old slide on the Vivitar Slide Copier, then the image is actually transfered to piece of artist paper and that gives it the painterly look of the final result.

  8. Polaroid Transfer #2… I just found another Polaroid Transfer. It's old and the colors are fading somewhat. It was done by the same process as the one above.

  9. Trees at Woods Lake…This is practically a "View From My Window". Actually I took it at the edge of our property looking across the next door neighbor's front yard on a foggy morning. Woods Lake is in the background. Olympus OM F with standard 50 mm lens on T-Max 100 film.

  10. View From My Window…This is a"View From My Window". I actually took it from inside the house looking out the window. We have a hill that leads into a park at the West end of Woods Lake. My kids used to slide down this hill in the wintertime with their friends. Taken with Olympus XA-2 on Kodak Max film at 800 ASA.

  11. Mr O'Stowe…The Pic of the week this week should naturally be St Patrick's Day related. These two pictures were not taken by me but are of me. Back when I was teaching, I would dress up in green, put on green shoes, and dye the grey part of my hair green. Then I had this record called "The St. Paddy's Day Parade" that I would play and at the same time would get up on top of my lecture table and dance a jig. Most people don't believe this story but these two photos prove it.

  12. Mr O'Stowe #2…This is a cropped version of the previous photo. Note the green shoes.

  13. Fall colors w/pond …Fall Colors across a pond near Delton, MI. Taken with Olympus OM F. I probably used Kodak Gold 100 or 400 film, 1996.

  14. Storm A Brewin…My wife and I were on a picnic at a park on Cloverdale Lake near Delton, MI. All of a sudden a storm came up and I tried to capture the feeling.Taken with Olympus XA-2 on Kodak Max film, 1998.

  15. Nub's Nub Ski Area…A shot of "Nubs Nob Ski area in the upper part of the Lower Penninsula of Michigan near Harbor Springs. It was taken in April a couple of years ago after the slopes were closed, thus no skiers. My brother is on the ski patrol at this ski area. It's only a little way from his home, so he goes there a lot to ski. Taken with Olympus OM F on Kodak Gold 100, 1996.

  16. Mississippi Barge…This shot was taken in a park in Red Wing, MN along the Mississippi River. There is a big curve in the flow of the river just down stream from where this was taken and the barge is getting ready to make this big turn. June, 1998

  17. Houghton-Hancock Bridge…This is a picture of the Houghton-Hancock draw bridge. Houghton is on the left and Hancock is on the right. Date of picture is unknown but at least a few years ago.
