Bob Fletcher Directs The Dianne Shortridge Open------------------------------------------------------------------------Doyle Park, May 17, 1997 Santa Rosa, CA 38 pitchers
Next Tournament:The Dale Loranger Open. 6/1/1997. See you there! ------------------------------------------------------------------------ From the President, Ed Loranger: We had good attendance. The day was VERY Hot with a temp. of about 82 Degrees at 10 AM, peaking to about 98 Degrees at 1:PM. The morning groups suffered from the worst heat, whereas the afternoon groups were blessed with a nice ocean breeze to keep the games bearable. We still need more raffle prizes, however the table was better stocked this tournament thanks to Greg Ellisen donating some handcrafted wood toolboxes his students made. Thanks Greg! Some members are doing MUCH MORE than their share. Let's all pitch in and even out the contributions. I want to thank Bob Fletcher for doing an outstanding job as tournament director! Bob was well organized, keeping notes on the activities and posessing due-dilligence ensuring a successful tournament. Bob, your efforts were noticed by all, and Thankyou Very Much! (The following typed by Ed L. for Bob from his notes) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ From the Tournament Director, Bob Fletcher: I would like to welcome you all to the Dianne Shortridge Open. Dianne is in her 3rd year as Secretary/Treasurer for our club. She grew up in a horseshoe pitching family and always had pits in the back yard. She pitched on camping trips too. Dixie Ellisen met Dianne walking in our neighborhood and got together with their husbands (Greg Ellisen/Steve Shortridge), for camping at Gualala. It was there that Greg got Dianne pitching and invited her to our Tues. nite practices. Dianne has been with the club since 1989. Qualifying at 26% ringers, Dianne had 3 60% games the following year. She had a large cheering section in the bleachers and the State Championships in Yolo County and won her class following a playoff. I was in that cheering section! We thank Dianne for her Time and Effort! Also here today are Dave and Cathie Loucks. Dave is the President of National, and Cathie our Newsline Editor. (Cheers/Applause) And joining the Sonoma County club, all the way from Albuquerque, New Mexico - Let's welcom Darrell Bierkamp! We'll be having 3 morning groups of 8 players, 2 afternoon groups of 7, and all games will be 30 shoes. Playoffs are 20 shoes. Good Luck to everyone! Let's play Horseshoes!
