Bill Fullwider Directs The Dale Loranger Open

Doyle Park, June 1, 1997 Santa Rosa, CA 38 pitchers
Next Tournament:The Charlie Nader Open. 6/21/1997. See you there! ------------------------------------------------------------------------ From the President, Ed Loranger: Dale Loranger is in his third year as a member of the Sonoma County Horseshoe Club. Dale posted an entering average of 1.6 % at the age of 12. Today at age 14, he carries an average in the high 50's. Dale has twice won the "Most Improved Junior Average" award sponsored by the Saunders family. Improving more than 25% each year, Dale went from 1.6% to 31% ringers his first year, then up to the high 50% bracket in 1996. Dale also Captured 2nd place in his first State tournament in 1995 and overwhelmed the field in the State Junior Class 'B' in 1996. In a gripping playoff match, Dale showed unwaivering determination, commitment and concentration to fend off his opponent -- earning the Class 'B' State championship and an interview with Channel 50 News! By the end of the 1996 tournament season, Dale had become a regular member of the top groups. Of special note, Dale was the first-ever Junior to win a 'Open' Sonoma County tournament. To further his presence, Dale repeated his feat one week later, winning the treasured 'Sonoma County Championships' and the historic honor of having his name permanently affixed to the perpetual trophy. The burl-wood plaque hangs proudly at our home. We thank Dale for exercising professionalism and courtesy not typical of a young man his age. We are proud to have you as a member of the Sonoma County Club! -Ed Loranger We had good attendance (44). The temperature was nice, about 70 Degrees at 10 AM, peaking to about 76 Degrees at 1:PM. We still need more raffle prizes, however Greg Ellisen again donated handcrafted wood toolboxes, a birdhouse etc. Thanks Greg! Some members are doing MORE than their share. Once again, let's all pitch in and even out the contributions. I want to thank Bill Fullwider for doing an outstanding job as tournament director! Bill was well organized, and having a computer at home, used our webpage effectively -- downloading tournament information. Bill, excellent Job and hope you can do it again! Thankyou Very Much!
