C. E. Dubs Directs The Hall Of Fame Open

Doyle Park, Sep. 21, 1997 Santa Rosa, CA 26 pitchers (4 Morning groups)
Next Tournament:PRIVATE:Sonoma County Championships 9/27/1997; C-U-There! ------------------------------------------------------------------------ From the President, Ed Loranger: This was supposed to be a very hot 91+ degree day. Ended up 84 degrees. Still a good sweat though. Due to the heat, Gail Sluys took over my position on stats, thereby freeing up an A-1 group slot, and freeing me up to pitch too! Ironically, the #7 postion in A-1 was captured by the smiling Casey Sluys -- whom has never pitched in the championship class before. So congratulations to Casey for surviving the battle 'Up' there! Charles E. Dubs handled tournament director duties. Thanks C.E.! Due to the strange weather, we put in extra work in last Tuesday. Still, some of the pits were crumbly and dry from the sudden heat wave. One comment I got was that we should turn the 'entire' pit once in awhile, so everything gets mixed up well. Noted. Let's all make an effort to turn ONE Pit, in its entirety, at each tournament or Tuesday meeting. Get the whole pit damp, turn it over from front to back, clean up the gutters, sprinkle some more water, and turn the top again lightly. Should have an excellent pit after that. Charlie E. Dubs had sent a letter to the Northern Cal. clubs asking to honor Chet Carter. Chet is a member of ALL Northern California clubs, and at leat one Southern California club. Charlie proposed that all clubs provide a 'Chet Carter Open' tournament in 1998. So far one club has declined dut to insufficient room in their schedule. Wouldn't it be neat to win a 'Chet Carter' plate from each club!!!!! Thanks to Charlie's hard work, and the cooperation of members, we had a well run tournament. Thanks Charlie! Thanks Pitchers! -Ed Loranger, President Sonoma County Horseshoe Club. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Activities by Tournament Director, C.E. Dubs:
