2001 Team Challenge
The 2001 Team Challenge, held at Lake Arlington(Arlington Heights) October 6th and 7th,
was a tough venue, thanks to a cold front that moved through the area just in time for our contest! On Saturday
the venue was held on the North bay & pegged on the North shoreline. Strong NW winds and cold temperatures made for
miserable conditions. Waggler fishing seemed the best bet, although poles that could reach deeper water could
catch some fish. No fish were caught in the shallow water(huge sand bar area), so very long casts to deeper water were
necessary. Sunday was sunny with almost no wind at all. The venue was moved to the South bay & pegged on the
South shoreline. Wagglers were the way to go as the fish seemed to be far out. The West most portion(the finger) had real
tough fishing as you had to cast to the far bank and pray! Pegs 1, 2 & 3 just managed 1 blue gill apiece! Gills made
up almost all the catch, with some Crappies caught Sunday. The only carp(just one?) was caught on Saturday. The matches
ran four hours both days with the start at 09:30 and lines out at 13:30. The water was low and clear.
