Big Snow

It began as rain on Monday. Later that evening turned to snow. It didn't stop until 9pm Wednesday night! We received a little over 3 feet here; drifts to 8 feet!! The foothills were pounded: Conifer, 6+ feet, Evergreen 4+ feet, etc etc (see more here). It was mainly upslope. However, the mountains did OK with most ski areas reporting about 60-70 inches!

You can't make out too much from the first three pictures -- they were taken from inside because the snow was so wet and blowing very hard!! The others are from outside when the storm let up..

5am: time to walk the dogs; open the garage...

The dogs dig it!

That's the rear windshield wiper of a Ford Escort wagon!

Upslope: in short, when weather moves from east to west over the area (normally, it moves west to east). As the weather pushes up against the front range of the Rockies the moisture gets wringed out. Denver and the foothills get pounded! The high mountain areas don't get as much, or at least not more.
