Berth-Kanal Trail Log

Directions: To reach the trailhead, drive west on W. Jemez Road from LANL. You'll pass the ski hill road on the right, then the road to S-Site on the left. Look for a dirt road on the right, about 300 yards beyond the S-site turnoff. Park here.

Cerro Grande Fire Damage Assessment: Ride it. All fixed, except for some minor hike-a-bike sections at the top of the canyon.

Trail Log:
0.0 Ride north on the dirt road, downhill.
0.1 After going around a gate and down a hill, look for a faint singletrack on the right. Take this.
0.2 Stay left on the singletrack.
1.3 Turn left on the dirt road.
1.4 Look for a singletrack on the right. It's hard to see, but if the road starts to curve east (left) you've gone too far.
2.0 Singletrack drops into the canyon. Some hike-a-bike sections here.
2.7 Downed tree. Look out.
When you reach the Dungeon climbing area (an obvious big cliff on both sides of the trail), be on the lookout for a singletrack on the right just after a stream crossing. Don't take the washed-out fireroad - it's no longer rideable.
3.5 Back at the car.
