Quemazon Trail

Fire Damage Assessment: Quemazon trail is relatively undamaged by the Cerro Grande Fire - or, to be more accurate, the _surface_ of the trail is undamaged. The entire ridge that Quemazon ascends, however, is a burnt-out shell of it's former self. Few, if any trees will survive, and there are numerous stumps still smoking. Quemazon, the Rim Trail, the Nature Trail, and all subsidiary trails in the area are rideable, and as of 5/23, there are no signs up indicating that the area is closed. There are, however, numerous new downed trees, a problem which I assume will only get worse with time. Many sections of the trail are covered with ash and soot up to 6 inches deep. The first mile or so is still very fun and relatively unchanged; the last 2 miles have sections with a LOT of ash on them that aren't much fun to ride.

Directions: To reach the trailhead, drive west on Trinity drive, through all the stoplights, until the road begins to curve north. Take a left (still actually part of trinity), then immediately another left onto a small dirt road and park in the obvious lot. The trail heads west (in the form of a dirt road) from here.

Trail log:
0.0 Ride west on the old dirt road. There is a singletrack which parallels the road on the right which is another option.
0.2 After curving right, the road curves to the left again, and you must ride around a locked metal gate. This is also where the Quemazon NATURE trail starts, as indicated by a wooden sign.
0.7 2 trails break off here (both are good downhill options.) On the left (as you ride up) is the nature trail, which is a more technical option, and on the right is a smoother singletrack.
3.0 Trail ends at Pipeline road.
