CAG ASouth Carolina Lake Hartwell Fishin 2002

Well we had a good fish in this year and Suprize!! I was there this time. I arrived at the Lake in the afternoon on friday and found Todd P. from Virginia was allready catching fish. He had taken several fish with a nice 15'lber. I began to set up for the weekend and while doing this along came Ricky Spencer, a local angler who grew up fishing the paylakes as I did. late in the day on friday we also had Nicolas Demougeot and my fishing Partner Ken Williamson. Nicolas is a Big Fish angler from France and gave us a look at the pricise baiting techniques he uses to catch "THE BIG ONE". He has a dozen fish of 40 lb. plus to his credit. And I was hoping that he would show us a big one before the weekend was over.

As darkness fell on us friday evening we could feel the winds of a coldfront begin to fall upon us and it was a very cold night for those of us who slept by our rods. There were a few small fish caught during the night right at our feet in the margins.

The next morning started out cold but soon became a nice sunny day but blue bird skies usually means high presure and the fishing was slow. As we began to warm up I had a take on a donkey ckoker and the fish was a nice common of 17 lb. it was the first fish I had taken on my new rods I had built and I was very pleased to say the least. soon after we were joined By Bobbi Ashworth and her grandson Jimmy Murray.

Bobbi and Jimmy are experienced paylake fishers and they were using a veriety of baits to catch there fish. Bobbi Had a common of 16.7 lb. and Jimmy had two fish which were nice double figure fish. My partner Ken Williamson was getting some action on saterday but he lost several fish to the snags that took a toll on every body and claimed more than a few rigs. We were joined by Newt Vail from Concord N.C. and Evan,a very enthusiastic young carper from Georgia.

Sundays fishing was tuff for the five anglers who were fishing but it would turn out to be Kens day. He had a string of action that found him many times with not a rod in the water and he was getting 2 runs at a time for a few hours. He also had the big fish for the weekend with a very nice 18 lb. common,I would like to thank all who attended and I look forward to fishing with them again in the fall.

Todd
