I love turkeys and turkey hunters.

This is exactly what Greasy thinks about them.

My buddy Dicksie Spolar and her Osceola. She killed it while her 4 year old grandson Cole played quietly behind her! Dicksie, nicknamed Elkie, lives in southern California. I met her on an all-women's spring turkey hunt I hosted here in SC (See Turkey Call magazine, Sept/Oct 1995).

We've done a meet-in-the-middle hunt somewhere every year or two since then. She and our other friend, Linda Denson are also working on Grand slams.

We invented Elkie and Bambi on an elk hunt when we kept losing stuff and screwing up the whole time. Like "where's the extra batteries for the flashlight?" "I don't know, they were right there on the table five minutes ago and now they're gone."
"Bambi must have lost them!"
Bambi loses hunting licenses, tags, shells, striker pegs, binoculars, even panties. You name it, she's lost it or forgotten it. She is one dumb broad, a dingbat.

Dicksie and I are consummate professional hunters. We never make mistakes or miss shots. On the other hand, last time Dicksie and I were together in Texas, Elkie and Bambi came as stowaways. Bambi crashed into a low hanging limb running to a down tom and knocked herself out. And Elkie sneezed and scared away her chance at a Rio. Bambi and Elkie are such klutzes! They're just as likey to walk around with matching rings around their eyes where they got "scoped" as to show off trophies.
