| Trip Report - Ed | On April 9, 2001 at 9:45am Ed Brimberg hiked to the peak of Mount
Rogers, Virginia. This was the second leg of a three highpoint trip to
WV, VA and KY. The hike consisted of walking 9 miles from the Elk Garden
parking lot on route 600. The temperature was in the 50's with fog. The
highpoint in Virginia has no views, just a small open space surrounded
by dense trees. There is no sign only the National Geodetic Survey marker.
Due to the fact that I took two wrong turns during the hike I ended up
going 12 miles instead of the 9 that was required. Total hiking time was
4 hours 30 minutes. It could have been done
in 3 hours.. |
