Quebrada Quintero (high path) - Details 2

If you are at track start point...

Ranger's House - Cota MilNow walk along that narrow corridor, passing under Cota Mil. After a short stairway you'll get to Sabas Nieves first ranger's house at Av. Boyacá (Cota Mil) level.

There are rest rooms in the house, but use them just if strictly necessary because they are not very hygienic. Also, they usually lack of electricity and toilet paper.

When you're out of corridor, you'll see right in front of you (northwest) a path that leads to Quebrada Quintero (high path) and Sabas Nieves. There is another route at your right that will take you Quebrada Quintero (low path). Take a look at Ranger's House Map - Cota Mil.

You have to know that there is a certain schedule to pass through this point:

There is a parking lot, but it serves only to Inparques and La Electricidad de Caracas personnel. That is how I don't recommend you to get here by car using Cota Mil.

Quebrada Quintero - low pathIn this area you'll find different kind of foods: Cakes, vegetarian hamburgers, ice creams, fruit salads, yogurt, falafel and sandwiches. Also lots of drinks: Orange, passion fruit, banana, carrot, pine apple, kiwi and watermelon juices, plus mixes, and native "papelon con limon".

Prices range between Bs. 250 for ice creams and Bs. 1300 for salads. A big glass of juice costs about Bs. 650.

When you follow the road Qda. Quintero (high path, and also Sabas Nieves), you'll find at your left CECODA ("Centro de Conservación y Defensa Ambiental Sabas Nieves") billboard. This group offers visitors free excursions and workshops, and takes care of some cleaning and maintenance of park areas. Check out this billboard, it has some interesting information.

Quebrada SecaAbout 75 m (245 ft) away from ranger's house you'll get to Quebrada Seca (Dry Creek). The old path to Sabas Nieves is at left, now closed by work on power lines. Walk along watchman and keep going up on main road.

Quebrada Seca - reaching the bridgeThe path along Quebrada Seca is nice and shadowy. After about 100 m (330 ft) you'll find a bifurcation with a small bridge at left. Here you must turn right. The road at your left leads to Sabas Nieves instead.

Click here to get a little map of this bifurcation.

It is wise to mention that usually this route is watched by National Guards concealed in the forest. If you need help, shout (and also behave yourself!).
