It all started early that Sunday morning when Rusty woke up to find that her water had broken. She had scheduled a c-section for the following Wednesday, but it appeared this baby wasn't going to come on our schedule.
After making some calls to the doctor and to Steve's mom, we decided to head on over to the hospital after dropping Jackson off at grandma's. Once we arrived at the hospital, Rusty got examined by a nurse and we had to wait to find out whether Rusty would be admitted.
Rusty and Steve passed the time watching the AFC playoff game (Steelers vs. Patriots). Steve still can't believe the Steelers lost.
Eventually, the nurses informed Rusty that the doctor wanted her to stay and that she would be prepped for the c-section in one hour. As Rusty was taken into the operating room to get prepped, Steve had to wait outside. He put on his scrubbs and watched the football game until the coach called his number.
Dad all suited up and ready for the big game.
It's a boy! Here's Ethan under the heat lamps soon after coming out.
Dad's in awe. Snaps many photos.
Steve stays with Ethan in the nursery while the nurses test his vitals.
The Mejias, Kel, and Grandma Cha-Cha look on from the cheap seats.
Rusty, meanwhile, is being sewn back together.
Dad's still in awe. Ethan is very alert.
The nurses finally give Ethan the green light.
He and dad head back to mom for some bonding time.
