Planning when to fish relies a lot on the theory the person believes in. There are quite a number of different theories invented by anglers such as the Solunar , Moon , Barometer and the Temperature theory but I will not mention it here as it will only confuse you and because that these theories has not been proven scientifically yet.

Some angler beleives that fish does not feed when there is moon and others beleives that is the best time to fish. This is just the kind of confusion one would get if a beginner starts to ask around. One important point to remember here is that these theories is for one to find the best time of date to fish with the highest concentration of fish and maybe providing a higher chances of catches when the criterias are met but does not mean that there will be no fish in the water at all. Most local fisheman and anglers in Malaysia follows this two simple guidelines when going out to sea. This will only be suggested guideline and after sometime, you will probably have your own. The guidelines are :

1) That the best time will be a week after the new moon or a week after the full moon which is easily found out by looking at a Chinese calender. This is also supported by other theories where the position of the sun and moon has a great effect on the fish behavior and the water current due to the gravitational pull.

2) The difference of the tidal level is neither to low or too high. This is done by looking at a tide chart for tide levels during the high and the low.

No artificial lures will work better than a live bait so it is important that you must be able to catch these live bait to ensure a better trip.
