Knowing the correct rigging technics is very important to ensure a more fruitful fishing trip. Many new rigging technics or variation of the rigs has been created from all around the world but many meant for conditions or species not found in Malaysia. These variation or new rigs were created according to the anglers experiences on the kind of species (feeding habits) or the condition of the area he/she is fishing in. Here are suggested rigging technics for your to start off with.

Fresh Water Rigs

Coat Hanger Float Rig For shallow to medium depth lakes or ponds.

A common rig used by local anglers at pay ponds. Generates quick respond on the main line when fish bites. This rig can also be used for bottom fishing by changing the float to a hook. The separator is important to prevent entanglement of your leader and your mainline.

Running Float Rig For deep lakes or ponds.

This rig is useful for deep lakes or ponds as depth is controlled simply by adjusting/sliding the stopper knot to the desired depth

Bottom Rigs For all lakes and ponds bottom fishing.

This illustration shows the example use of the rig and is completely versatile. Design your own to suit the condition.

Salt Water Rigs

Balloon Rig Drift Fishing

Balloon rigs is used during windy condition. The point of this rig is to use the wind to push the balloon and to drift out. Also used for beach casting as it will bring your bait to the deeper part of the sea.

Fixed Bottom Rig Bottom Fishing

Simple and common rig for bottom fishing. Can also be used for jigging by adding 5 or six more hooks to the mainline. Hand line or using a reel.

Drift Rig Drift Fishing

Another popular rig which allows you to present your bait at a certain depth by adjusting the sinker weight to the current flow. Using a snap clip for the bomb sinker is useful for changing of weight.

Trolling Rigs Trolling

A simple rig used for trolling. Change lures to any kind you like. The second rig in the middle (Occy Skirt) is optional and if used, should be place about five feet from lure to lure. Here, the skirt acts as a surface running teaser as well as a bait.
