Trip to Banff and the Canadian Rockies. Labor day weekend, 1998.

|
We woke early Saturday morning, had breakfast in town then drove to Johnston Canyon.
I suggest you get there early as the parking spaces are limited. A raised boardwalk has been built through the deep limestone canyon rather than a trail along the lip. There are smaller waterfalls along the entire route but the two main attractions are the Lower Falls and the Upper Falls. After reaching the Upper Falls the path veers away from the river. We continued up and over the mountain then descended back toward the river. Here we reached a wide open valley and the Ink Pots, mineral springs of a deep brilliant aqua color. Pam stopped to soak her feet in the icy cold river. |
