![]() Cars are allowed for the first 14 miles of the Denali Park Road. However, to go beyond that, you must sign up for the bus. As the bus motors along the road, the driver may or may not make a lot of comments since their main job is to drive safely. Nonetheless, the drivers will stop when wildlife is spotted. |
![]() Here is the famed Denali (a.k.a. Mt. McKinley). Because it stands above the other ranges, it draws its own weather and as such is often covered in clouds. The early morning and near sundown are you best chances to see it. Within an hour of this shot, the mountain was completely covered in clouds. |
![]() Here are some Dall Sheep! Bring binoculars to help you see the critters better. We saw some bears but they were mere specks in the binoculars. |
![]() Here is a Caribou! Most often we saw herds of a dozen or so but farther away. |

![]() Moose!! Harold and I took the Ranger walk to Horseshoe Lake and along the way, we saw a mom moose with her two little ones. Moose value their personal space so don't get too close. We stayed very calm and quiet as the mom and these two walked by munching on plants. To the left is where we had a late lunch. Bub's Subs just opened a few days before our arrival. It is run by a couple during the summer tourist season. |
