- THE FOUNDATION FOR SPORT AND THE ARTS
An independent discretionary trust seeking to enhance the quality of life for the community through the encouragement and funding of sport and the arts at every level. The pursuit of excellence is not ignored but concedes primary consideration to measures which increase participation in and enjoyment of sport regardless of levels of competence.
- THE NENE FOUNDATION
A charitable foundation which receives monies from The Timken International Fund. This is distributed in the communities where employees of the Timken company live. At the time of the lottery submission (March 1996) it had already distributed over £3,700,000 in the Northampton and Daventry areas. This funding is linked to providing a new headquarters building for Northamptonshire Clubs for Young People.
- NORTHAMPTONSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL and
NORTHAMPTON BOROUGH COUNCIL
Both committed to delivering value for money in the provision of services and facilities for the people who reside in or visit the county and the county's largest county town. Extensive expertise and partnership-working help to target 'opportunities for all' whilst safeguarding the natural environment.
- THE ENVIRONMENT AGENCY - formerly the NATIONAL RIVERS AUTHORITY
The National Rivers Authority was established in 1989. Now absorbed into the Environment Agency, its role continues as 'guardian of the water environment", committed to protecting and improving the water environment in its broadest sense.
- THE BRITISH CANOE UNION
This is the governing body for the sport and recreation of canoeing in the UK and represents the interests of canoeists at local, international and international level. It is a private members club with limited liability status, founded in 1936.
- THE NENE VALLEY PROJECT
Launched in 1990, this project aims to improve opportunites for countryside recreation and to conserve and develop the wildlife and landscape of the river Nene valley. Its funding partners include the
Countryside Commission,
English Nature, East Northamptonshire District Council, South Northamptonshire Council, the Borough Council of Wellingborough and Northamptonshire County Council. The funding contribution includes both professional and volunteer time.
