The naturally pure water of Ouray Hot Springs bubbles up from underneath the beautiful San Juan Mountains. These spectacular peaks rise sharply above the small valley that the city of Ouray lies in, making Ouray one of the most dramatically beautiful tourist towns in Colorado and inspiring its nickname, "Little Switzerland."

Open year-round, the hot springs' large oval pool features lap lanes, a diving area, children's splash area, and a 104 degree "hot tub" soaking section. In the summer, the pool is cooled slightly by municipal water.

The modern bath house has showers, hair dryers, a play pen and changing table for infants, and secure lockers. Both the pool and bath house are handicapped accessible. There is also a snack bar, gift shop, and fitness club providing equipment for weight training and aerobics classes. There is a park next door with a running track, picnic area, and playground. Ouray Hot Springs truly has something for every tourist, especially those with children.

If you are bringing children under the age of seven, according to pool rules, they must remain within your arm's reach at all times regardless of their swimming ability or the use of flotation devices such as lifejackets or water wings. IMPORTANT: Be forewarned that the artificial, concrete floor of the pool is quite rough and will wear bloody holes in the feet and toes of you and your children. It happened to us! You are well-advised to bring water shoes or sandals to protect your feet. (The brochures will not tell you this!)

Ouray is a great weekend escape. There are fabulous restaurants, art galleries, hotels and B & B's, guided jeep tours, and more... Click here for more information from the Official Ouray Colorado Visitor's Guide.
