Are you interested in Boy Scouts? You are invited to visit our meetings and campouts a few times to see what we are all about. If you choose to join us, talk with the Scoutmaster to get applications for you and your parents. To join Boy Scouts, a boy must:
Have completed fifth grade
or be 11 years old
or have earned the Arrow of Light Award
Recite the Pledge of Allegiance
Be familiar with the Scout symbols
Discuss child abuse with his parents
Talk with the Scoutmaster
One of your parents/guardians is strongly encouraged to join and commit to an active role in the Troop to support the Boy Scout program.
Troop Meetings
The entire troop meets each Tuesday evening between 7 PM and 8:30 at Water's United Methodist Church in St Leonard.
Directions from Route 4:
Turn South on to Route 264 (Broomes Island Road).
Travel 3.1 miles then turn left on to Route 265 (Mackell Road).
Travel 3/4 mile then turn left into the church parking lot.
Troop meetings are planned to have an opening ceremony, a period for skill development, another period for the patrol to meet, and another for a game. The Scoutmaster offers a time of reflection and then the Scouts conduct a closing ceremony. The Green Bar usually meets afterward for a very short stand up meeting. There are no meetings on:
Any day that Calvert County schools are closed
(or close early) due to weather
The week(s) the troop is in Summer Camp
The week containing Christmas Eve
The week containing Christmas Day
The week containing New Year's Eve
Uniform
A Scout is expected to be in full Field Uniform at Courts of Honor, Scoutmaster's Conference, Boards of Review and Troop Meetings. The Field Uniform shall be worn at Troop functions unless the Activity Uniform is specified by the Scoutmaster.

Dues
Scout Dues (in the amount $4 per month) will be collected on a monthly basis. Dues will be collected in advance, will be placed in escrow and applied to the upcoming years' re-charter fees/dues for each individual scout. Initial set up of and all new troop members thereafter will be required to pay one year's dues (or $48) in advance at time of charter with the troop. Dues will cover the following items:

Boys Life Magazine
Insurance
Conduct
All Scouts and adults are expected to live by the Scout Oath and Law. At any Troop 407 function, this is the standard your conduct will be measured against.
Outings
Scouting is three-quarters outing. At Troop 407, we plan at least one outdoor activity most months. If you like tent camping, hiking, canoeing, or just the great outdoors, Troop 407 may be right for you!
