What is Venturing?
Venturing is a co-ed program for individuals aged 14 through 20 years. These non-traditional activities are sponsored by the Boy Scouts of America, and are open to all individuals, regardless of the depth of their experience. If you or your youth group are ready for challenging outdoor activities, Venturing may be right for you.
Goals
The goal of the Deer Lake Venturing Program is to teach young adults a broad selection of outdoor skills, empowering them to act responsibly in a back country environment. Whether rock climbing, backpacking or canoeing, crew members will come away with the confidence generated from the knowledge gained by hands-on experience. Venturing offers an advancement program, culminating with the Ranger Award for elite outdoor leaders.
Venturing Staff
Deer Lake staff offer programs that go beyond the realm of most youth leaders' expertise. All Deer Lake instructors are experts in their field, maintaining current certifications to insure participant safety.
How to Enroll
Venturing Crews can schedule one to three-day programs by contacting Deer Lake Directors Mark and Patty Clifton at (203) 421-4040. You choose the weekend and the seasonal program you desire and we'll make it happen. Combination programs are available for longer events.
