<body background="LIPURP~1.GIF"> <h2 align=center><u>Robert A. Wingo's Genealogy</u></h2> <p> Welcome to my webpage, documenting as well as I can the genealogy of my family. My children's questions on the origin of the Wingo name and my own curiosity of histrory led me to start researching. <br><br>Early on, I realized that there was alot of Wingo history. There are so many children that the tree spreads out very quickly. I visited some websites and tried to gleam as much as I could. My parents did not know very much either about the Wingo's, only that they were poor farmers. I recently visited a second cousin who made a joke that there were the "rich Wingos and the poor Wingos and the poor Wingo's "coat of arms" was an empty plate and crossed knife and fork". <br><br>I had assumed early on from information on Pam Reid's site that the Andrew Jackson (b1835) was my grandfather's grandfather (same name). She had no marrage or children information on AJ(1835) and I could not find any link. I had heard of the Landrum Spartanburg book but could not locate a copy. <br><br>Then, Ureka, I posted a message on the Wingo Gen site and Dan Olds sent me a Wingo Line history where it all started to come together. Obits and other pieces on information began to clear everything up. There either was another Andrew Jackson b1833 or this was the same one placed in the wrong famliy. From census information, there appears to be 2 Andrew Jackson Wingos born 2 years apart to different family lines. Everyone was connected, just further up the line.<br><br>One theory I have on the "poor Wingo side" of the family is that William Wingo was raised by his wealthy uncle after his farther's early death, and probably did not have the resources of his richer cousins. This could have led to some anamosity and these two sides did not get along.<br><br>This site attempts to document as best I can my Wingo line. I will be adding others as I can.
