Everlasting
With
so many years of friendship behind us,
it
seems that there can be nothing less than a lifetime ahead.
I
remember when nothing was more important in our lives
than
cruising around and hanging out with our friends.
So
many things have come to pass,
though
we thought we knew it all back then.
Sometimes
I like to escape my day to day life,
just
remembering my old friends.
Wondering
what they are like today,
wondering
where they are.
Do
they think of me in passing,
or
when they see a shooting star?
Do
they remember all the fun we had?
Or
the promises we made?
The
most important being understood, yet unspoken,
that
friendship outlasts the day.
That
single day you maybe said goodbye,
if
you even had that chance.
And
though we've drifted over time,
it
takes just that single glance,
When
you meet again for the very first time,
volumes
are stated in that one look.
Like
opening to a random page
in
your all time favorite book.
Picking
up where you left off,
you
never missed a beat.
Adding
another chapter to the adventures of a lifetime,
stories
your grandchildren will repeat.
As
we walk the path of aging,
hopefully
gaining wisdom along the way,
Remembering
that the events that have shaped our lives,
make
us who we are today.
We
gain hope from new beginnings,
and
strength from unexpected strife
There's
no guarantee how things will turn out,
but
the unknown is the spice of life.
There's
one thing you can count on,
as
you face Life's mystery.
I'm
always here when you need a friend,
you
can count on me.
So
for now, just let me say, "Thank you...",
while
we have the opportunity.
And
remember that friendship is everlasting,
when
you think of me.
