The car
could be driven right up to the river bank. There are good and safe
parking plot. From the place where the car is. Just cross the river
and walk another 5-8 minutes. there are 2 catches here. First, in dry
season, the narrow river crossing may only be knee deep, that depth
being at the place where the river bends. But in raining season,
crossing the river may not be that dangerous but definitely would get
your wet. Also after you have entered the other bank, during time of
rain and flash floods, you may have difficulties coming across. the
second would be the walk. while there was no ambiguity as to the need
to choose track, it was extremely narrow and some part discontinued by
overgrown. But there is nothing to fear as the total length is less
than 100 meters and cutting diagonally across a part where the river
bends. The track would end about 30 meters from the area of the
waterfall. the rest on the way just walk along the bank. The waterfall
is not very high but impressive. It carved a small deep pool and
supplemented with w round broad pool. The swimming area is small but
available. The camping area just beside the banks is good and away
from flash floods.
What is recommended
No
special mention of precautions or specific things you need to bring
except mosquitoes repellent, if you are camping. Because of the tall
grasses and the unseen trail, bringing small children would be a
hindrance. You need to cross over fallen rubber tree trunks or walk a
short distance balancing on the narrow fallen trunk.
The of
course crossing the river is easy most of the time. However where
difficulties arise bringing children over would compound the problem
of the obstacles.
How to get there
Start
off with Karak town itself. From there go east towards Mentakab. At
the fringe of town you would cross the Telemong River and from there
almost immediately the there would be a right turning to Simpang
Pertang and Bahau.
Travel
along that way for about 22 kilometers. You would pass small
settlement like Telemong and Gapoi. After Gapoi, the road would start
a long run through wilderness with no houses at all. That would be the
sign for turning right. Watch out for the water works Office on your
right.
Once
sighted the right turn down into the Orang Asli village would be there
as well. Just drive into this tar road and pass the village. The road
still level, broad and good would be in varying stage of breaking up.
Just travel another kilometer. the road would be making a left turn
and up the hill. Just at that point there should be a n open patch and
a tall tree. that is your car park. The river is there. Look there are
clear tracks. On the opposite bank the trail may sometimes be hidden.
Don't be alarm. Jus walk across, the tall grass cannot cover a well
worn track after the short slope. |
