The main waterfall -Henry was standing too near the camera that reduces the effects of the waterfall. It should be more dramatic than shown.

How to get there

From the town center, there are adequate signboard to show you the way. Many walkers took advantage of the cool weather to have a stroll to the place. It is a tough walk. Remembering that on the return stretch, you would be going uphill all the way. Anyway - it is 5 kilometers one way. As I mentioned earlier, pay special attention for the waterfall sign. When the road reaches a level ground and making a sharp turn to the left, the straight ahead walk is a concrete paved track. Look for the Waterfall sign.

The place

Years ago, this destination was a fairly well known waterfall. The placeas wild and you could not even catch sight of a river flowing. Steep slopes every where.

A nice deep pool, enhanced with a low retaining wall ensured that the pool was persistently maintained at the right depth. The place was indeed a beautiful retreat, far away from the town center was a worth while visit. Hikers would packed their gears, camped here. It was exceptionally cold, even in the day. So that was what the holiday maker were looking too. Another change from camping site found elsewhere in the lowlands. Just a couple of lines to explain why the Jeriau Waterfall got its prominence.

Development came to this valley. The hills where the river originates, was cleared and developed into a 2nd golf course for Fraser's Hills. Disaster struck during the years of development, the amount of slit brought down hill and into the waterfall, altered the structure of pool in front of the waterfall. Today in the vicinity of the waterfall and where the cars are parked, vegetation cleared and open skies all round.  Then for first timer, suddenly in an open ravine, there was this gush of water dropping from the sky. What they have taken away from this place cannot normalize the weather again, even construction is over. The weather changed and the amount of water lessen.

The low bushes beside the old track cleared and the track itself paved. The act was to reduce that wilderness look and intended to make city more at ease with the jungle. This should bring in more traffic, to encourage more visitors. It is a clean park. But higher patronage? Yes, but the wrong kind - more sight see-ers. Those coming for sight seeing are never prepared for hardship like walking. After walking and only seeing a stupid drop, deters future visit. In the meantime, those who love such secluded spot cannot enjoy the clinical surroundings with on-lookers and stuck with a damaged pool.

Those who cannot bathe in the pool. There is no natural setting to appreciate even though that the water fairly clear by now. The pool was less than one meter deep in the very spot where the water drop. The rest of the old pool -sand. Then with open sky above. This place is typical of an urban setting. Nice walking path, toilet, change room and a small sanding area beside the pool. Wrong crowd, all casual visitors  to Fraser's Hills do not have in mind a picnic by the waterfall. Those residing visitors prepared for this holiday have enough plan in their bungalows. I do have picnic in Frasers Hills but I would opt for one of the sheds provided and not carry my stuff all the way down to the Waterfall. As for the sands left inside the pool for campers - Go there and see for yourself - the concept.

I would recommend!

Take your car through that treacherous 5 kilometer drive. The road is very good, watch out for those corners that are very sharp bends. So it all depends on how the drivers sees this type of driving conditions.

The reason for this trip is - Jeriau Waterfall is the only scenic sight in the whole of Fraser's Hills. That was in the mind of most visitor who were out to seek scenic views. At the end of the drive is also the entrance to the new golf club. There was an empty lot, as Car park. From there it was a walk of about 800 meters on cemented walkway but down hill. So think of what to bring along. It looks easy but for those not accustomed to carrying over long distance, this could be far. The walkway will lead you to spot down stream, after the waterfall. On a vantage point, and looking back, the waterfall and its surrounding is in full sight. I am merely stating the difficulties involved vs the objective and the rewards.
