The place
The picture that you see
on the left is the icon of Endau Rompin National Park. This place, as a
destination, is not only about searching for Waterfalls but rather an
adventure expedition into the wilderness. It is not meant or suitable
as a weekend escape. There are so much topics of interest that the Park can offer, a
mere 2 days stay in here is never enough. Having said that, this park
is the land of waterfalls. This fact was overshadowed by one majestic
and largest of all that made the rest unimpressive and into oblivion
More comments on this page is devoted to
mentioning some highlights that the Park offer and not exclusively on waterfall.
Once in the park and with on-the spot information, you could embark on
your own fancy of searching for the waterfalls. The numbers available
simply fill the controversial topics of grading the waterfalls. So
it would be more meaningful on your own.
First, this park is all about outdoor living. Meant for
those who are interested in doing jungle trekking and keen to see
flora in various forms. Being there itself is an adventure. Some of
the features offered are;- a stretch of river for canoeing. A fairly
level trek along the river plus river crossing to a couple of scenic
sights. Longer treks for the hard core, using the waterfalls as
targets. Then a hill climb to seek out unique plants. Of course the
roads around the park facilities are good for those who are looking
for those not-so-common birds. So take your picks and an activities
that suits your interest and capabilities.
I would recommend!
Since
the destinations has so much to offer, and considering the facts of
the long journey into the Park itself, best that you read more about
the park prior your departures. Plan and target your activities. Upon
arrival, all that is needed would be to tie up the final itinerary and
your stay in the area. Most visitors has opt for the trek to the
scenic spots. This would normally means one night of outdoor sleeping
in tents. Almost all facilities are supplied by the Park, you need
your personal belongings and mentally prepared.
How to get there
So far,
all these introduction above are based on the area of the Park from the
southern approach "Kahang". If you are using the western
"Bekok" or eastern "Rompin" approach, I should be
putting something up in the near future. Make sure your booked your accommodation
3 days before departure. You would be picked up in the town of Kahang.
This is a small town about 28 kilometers east of Kluang and on the way
to Mersing.
For
those driver, continue on the road to Mersing. About 3 kilometers out
of Kahang town, there should be a junction on your left. The entrance
to a 56 kilometers drive to the Park. Partially paved, this track was
interesting to drive on and should take you more than an hour. More
about the Park on my other sites.
