Identification: 3-3.5'. males 75-400lbs; females 50-250lbs. Largest in the north. White tails that "flag" as the mammal retreats, indicating a deer on the move. Reddish in color in the summer and blue-grey in the winter. Males have antlers that consist of a main beam with prongs preturding from it.
Habitat: Forest, swamps, bushy areas. Most of the United States, except California, Nevada, and Utah and some bordering states, and Northern Canada.
Skull: Rectangular, narrow nose cavity. No upper incisors. Square, herbivour teeth.
